Generative Cultures

About me

I am Francesca Varney, the Founder of Generative Cultures, Coach and Culture Practitioner.

Growing up in East Germany, I personally witnessed the impact of leadership within a dominant regime on culture. Despite the outward appearance of unity, there existed a disconnect between appearances and reality. Compliance was expected, creativity discouraged, and dissent punished. A hidden subculture of 'silent resistance' emerged, stifling creativity and national contribution.
This experience led me to recognize the effects of outdated leadership in various industries worldwide. Today's rapidly changing world demands adaptable leadership and cultures and successful transformation hinges on leaders' willingness to transform themselves.

My work as a Coach and Culture Practitioner is guided by three coaching objectives: fostering self-agency, embracing reflective practice, and cultivating a regulated nervous system. I challenge entrenched norms and systems, facilitating difficult conversations to shift the collective consciousness in organisations.
'When we recognise our own blind spots and become aware of how we make meaning of the world, that's when we create fertile ground for transformation in ourselves and around us.'
My practise is informed by my lifelong experience with horses and harnessing their unique ability to adapt to changing environments whilst preserving their very essence. I meet leaders and teams in a paddock in South Gippsland where my herd of six horses are teachers, co-facilitators and guides to the curious, developing human. Check out The Horse Within.

Extensive studies in Business, Counselling and Psychology, Behaviour Change Frameworks, Adult Development Theory and Adaptive Cultures as well as a strong commitment to continuous development, build my foundation and ongoing training to work with senior and aspiring leaders.
